The Singapore Indoor Stadium was transported 20 years back in time on Nov. 8 when iconic Hong Kong band, Beyond, played to a 6,000-strong audience for their “Next Stage Live 2008” concert.
Established as a household name in the Cantonese rock music scene, the band had been hugely popular with the Gen X crowd during the 1980s and 1990s. The performance, lasting two and a half hours long, was a showcase of the music veterans’ 25 years of longevity in the business. |

You can be as loud as the hell you want when you’re making love – this may not be typical advice, but it was one pearl of wisdom dispensed as a song by puppet musical, Avenue Q.
Besides this number, the Sesame Street-esque, colourful mayhem of puppetry had the audience in stitches and tapping their toes to other catchy tunes. |

Do not treat upcoming puppet musical, Avenue Q, as wanting to emulate Sesame Street completely. The fact that both productions contain puppets is perhaps the only similarity they share.
Conceived by Americans Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx in 2003, Avenue Q became a multiple Tony Award-winning musical in 2004 that has puppets spouting provocative song lyrics with titles such as, “The Internet is For Porn” and “If You Were Gay.” |
