The daunting reality of failing to achieve anything significant in the lifetime of an athlete is a dark side of sports that is not talked about very often.

A seldom acknowledged fact is that sporting achievement has a tendency to bias the winners. The general public seldom pay attention to the non-winners that drop out of competition, fail to qualify or finish outside the top three.

Move to re-site Youth Olympic Village a blow to Singapore’s stature

The fanfare earlier this year that greeted the selection of NUS University Town as the venue of the Youth Olympic Village for the inaugural Youth Olympics Games 2010 has come to naught.

The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Committee announced on Aug. 02 that Nanyang Technological University has been chosen as the replacement venue.
