Eusoff Hall wrested the Inter-Hall Games netball title from defending champions Temasek Hall Tuesday evening as the teams clashed in a hard-fought final at the Sports and Recreation Complex netball court.

For long periods it looked as if the see-saw match could turn either way. The teams were neck to neck for the first three quarters, and five minutes into the last quarter saw Eusoff Hall holding a slim advantage at 14-13.

However, Eusoff upped the ante when it most mattered to pull away and emerge 22-16 victors. For the rest of the match, the eventual champions put on a display of fluid movement and quick passing to create numerous chances for their goal shooter and goal attacker, while the defensive players also excelled in intercepting several vital Temasek passes.

Eusoff Hall player Jasmine Ang, a fourth-year Southeast Asian studies major, attributed the win to her team’s strong dynamics.

“We have very good team spirit and we trust in each other and we never gave up,” she said.

On her part, Temasek Hall’s team captain and second-year psychology major, Nur Hanisah, felt that her side faced daunting odds against a much stronger team and had already done a good job keeping the score close until the fourth quarter.

“We are not individually strong as a team,” she said. “They (Eusoff) have the experience. They have the individually strong players.

“We are satisfied with the game.”
