A 21-year-old male resident at the NUS student hostel Kuok Foundation House fell on Jan.20 from one of the building’s upper floors and died in hospital later the same day.

An email circular sent to residents of the hostel said that Wang Cheng, a second-year chemical engineering student from China, was found lying on a grass patch near some shrubs by campus security officers, who had rushed to the site after being informed at about 3.40 p.m. that someone had fallen from one of the upper floors at KFH. The email said the officers immediately called for an ambulance, which conveyed the student to National University Hospital.

At about 5 p.m., the student was pronounced dead at NUH.

The email added that the student’s family has been informed and that the police are investigating the incident.
